12.5. These Menonites are a great bunch of People. They invited us to stay in their Guest trailer and they insisted on feeding our horses for free. We shared the evening with them (3 families with Children) and it turns out, they origninated from Mexico, moved to Canada BC and then came down to Texas now now here to New Mexico, where the manage a 20.000 ha Corn growing farm. We are given permission to ride across their land and so we could avoid having to ride the hot tar road. After Lunch we run into the the CDT trail coming from the East and we followed it, what turned out to be a long haul. Instead of the 15 km i had planed it turned out to be more like 40, so we endet up doing 65 km that hot and dry day. Argenitna had trained me well, but the dryness and the dust here, where even given my long a proplem. We each carried 1 ltr. of Water, and had to refill at every possibility. While the horses where not exited, to travel on the gravel road, the trail through the arid desert somewhat inspired them and we arrived at camp at 7 pm. |
