Day 12, Jasper to Saskatchewan Crossing leg. Slept under the stars again. Surprise rainfall in the middle of the night, but quickly flipped half our ground cover poncho over our sleeping bags and went back to sleep. No problemo. Up at first light and on the trail within an hour to spend the day travelling down the Brazeau River valley and South Boundary of Jasper National Park. We made good time as much of the trail was in a wide, cleared corridor through the trees. Not much for views, but good trail and easy going. We got to Brazeau Meadows Horse Camp by 4:00pm. Beautiful camp and tons of grazing in the meadow for Rodeo and Charlie. Definitely the best camp site of the trip, so far. Only 8.5 hours on the trail, but it felt like a short day in comparison to the last couple. 36 km travelled. Update from Tina re: Ahi. Vet check with prescribed meds and couple more day’s rest. |
