2023 06 10 Alpe Adria trail day 3
We left the restaurant in Cessozac at 8.30 and followed the trail along the river and after about an hour or more there was a overhanging rock on the trail and Arkan had a problem with the sidebags touching the rock throwing him off balance. He managed but had hit his bones and on the next bent with a down step he refused. We had unsaddled Mansu who is the wider horse and he managed well going ahead on the second situation. Arkan needed some convincing before he decided to give it a try. He finally managed and we where able to saddle up again. We had to follow the river trail for another hour and where able t organize a beer/radler from a private place. We asked some Germans coming down the trail we were going and they recommended taking a parallel trail running above. We had some difficulty climbing up to that trail Mansu beeing stressed about how narrow all of it was but we managed well. On that upper trail we run into some steep wooden steps up a sheer rock, where lots of people where watching us getting our horses up these stairs. From then on we avoided the river trail and followed the wider road as much as possible.
We would have had to cross a hanging bridge to continue but I found a road bridge less than 500 m up the hill, so we climbed up there and back down the other side where we found a camp with a kiosk.
It started to pur down so we decided to ride up the parallel road. At around 4 pm we entered the Trikav park and passed the entrance to our trail tomorrow. We found a private place that allowed us to fence the horses on a pasture. The only drawback was the kind of expensive rooms. But food was included so we accepted because not doing so would have mentioned walking down to Trenta for another hour hoping to find some grass for horses. Sophy the lady was very friendly so we accepted. 30 km today 7.5 hours
