2023 06 13 Alpe Adria trail 6. Day We had some coffee with our host Erwin and Barbara and trying to gather the horses from the big field they had to graze, Arkan decided he would rather visit the mares with foal and Gee had to help me catching him yo saddle up. We had to ride up the valley some more and there was a tight Canyon, where big trucks would have to navigate and there was no sidewalk or bike path due to recent mud slides after heavy rain. I led Mansu who had shown some fear of orange or green trucks approaching him, to get him save through. Leaving the canyon behind us we found a coffee shop / bakery where we had our second breakfast, while Mansur beeing tied to post put his head into the garbage container hanging from the post licking some melted ice creme from a carbon cup. We started riding up the hill on tractor roads having to open a few gates and finally after 35 km reaching the Lammersdorfer Hut on 1800 m. Unsaddling the horses we realized we had lost our feed bag, and checking the fotos we found out where. We drank a radler and the cantered all the way back up the mountain to the overpass and down the otherside, and after10 min we had found the bag. We helped the Lady Senn (cowgirl) driving the cattle back to the barn for milking. We parked the horses on a big fenced in field with a fountain running. We returned to the mountain house and ordered our meals. Kaespaetzle and bacon and eggs with bread and then we spend the evening listening to the story of the 22 year old Senn and her 2 year older boyfriend who is a professional Kaeser (cheesmaker). Gee was offered a bed in the house and we set up the tarp for me. It started to rain so we bought some 12 month old cheese and went to bed. |
