2023 06 08 Alpe Adria trail day 1 Civedare de Friuli to Rifugio Solaire at the Slowenien border. We stayed at Circle V farm near Civedare and had the horses stay in the riding arena with hay and water. We slept at a agritourismo in the area and Peter our driver dropped us of at the entrance to the trail to return the trailer and car back to Switzerland. After a tough first 15 minutes up a steep creek, where the horses often slipped on the wet rock we reached the trail and from the on it was easy riding. We learned fast to identify the quality of the trail by its color and decided to avoid the dark red trails, following the ones with more muted tones on the map. The landscape is rugged and mostly covered with trees, so riding in the shadows was comfortable. We followed the trail through Castlemonte and the Church at San Giovanni. Picking Trails or riding on the road as we pleased. We found a Rifugio where we got some beer and repacked Gees bags cause here waterproof bags are so slippery the worked their way out of the saddlebags while trotting. Finally her Gear stayed without shifting the saddle on the horse. Arriving at Rif. Solarie we where greetet exited by the owners and could put the horses up in a field of grass. An hour later the sky opened up and it pour down. I stepped at the fenced in area with the horses and am now sitting at the breakfast table drinking good Italian coffee, the only drawback the cups are very small, so many refills |
